Information for New Scouts
Mission
The main goal of Cub Scouts is for the boys to
have fun. At the same time, we
encourage parent and family involvement in our pack during these few short years
that you have to spend with your boy and affect his growth and
development. The Cub Scout program
will introduce boys to new skills and experiences in an environment that
allows them to develop their personal and leadership skills in preparation
for Boy Scouts and life.
About Pack 985
Pack 985 has 90-100 boys in 1st – 5th grades
organized in 10-12 dens. Our pack
meets once a month throughout the year.
Our pack events include camping, the famous Pinewood Derby,
swimming, Cubmobile racing, community service projects and many other fun
activities. Each year we take one
big overnight trip to an exciting destination such as USS Yorktown in
Charleston, cave camping, or space camp.
Cub Scout Dens are organized by grade. The boys progress through Tiger, Wolf,
Bear and two years of Webelos. Each
den meets one or two times each month to work on achievements and
activities related to their badge that year.
Location
Pack 985 is chartered by Northbrook United Methodist Church
in Roswell, GA. Our primary feeder
school is Hembree Springs Elementary School, though many of our scouts are
from other schools.
